¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 is deeply committed to ensuring that all students have access to affordable, safe and inclusive housing as part of its mission to create a supportive and sustainable learning environment. Guided by the principles of SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 provides a range of on-campus and off-campus accommodation options that cater to students from diverse financial backgrounds. Through its residential colleges, off-campus housing support and Waqf and Endowment Room Programme, the university not only reduces the financial burden of living expenses but also promotes student well-being and academic success. These efforts reflect ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹’s holistic approach to sustainability, combining affordability, accessibility, and environmental responsibility to foster a thriving and equitable campus community.

1. Affordable Residential College

¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹’s residential colleges, such as Dato’ Onn College, Ungku Omar College and Aminuddin Baki College, offer affordable and comfortable on-campus housing options for students. These colleges provide a conducive learning environment, fostering academic success and personal growth. By providing affordable housing, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 supports SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities, by ensuring accessible and affordable housing for students, contributing to their overall well-being and academic achievement.

¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 is committed to providing affordable and inclusive housing options for its students. The university offers a range of accommodation choices, including on-campus residential colleges like Dato’ Onn Residential College, Ungku Omar Residential College and Aminuddin Baki Residential College. These colleges provide well-maintained facilities at affordable rates, fostering a conducive learning environment. Students pay a minimum rate of RM 3.50 per day (in total RM11,949,735 per year), while full-paying students pay a minimum rate of RM 7.00 per day. This subsidy structure reflects ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹’s commitment to supporting students with additional financial assistance, while maintaining affordable on-campus housing options for all.For students who prefer off-campus housing, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 offers guidance and support in finding suitable accommodations near the campus. Special deals, such as first-month free rentals or discounted rates, are available to help students find affordable housing options. ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 provides financial assistance through the Waqf and Endowment Room Programme to further support students from low-income backgrounds. In 2024, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 is able to sponsor 51 residential rooms across 10 colleges with a total allocation of RM451,200, directly easing the financial burden of 408 students to complete their studies. These residential options create an environment where students can focus on their studies without the burden of high living costs.

2. Affordable Housing Facilities Off-Campus

For students who prefer off-campus housing, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 offers guidance and support in finding suitable and affordable options. By providing accessible and affordable housing, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 contributes to SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities, ensuring that students have a stable and supportive living environment conducive to their academic pursuits.

3. Residential College Sponsorship to Low-Income Student

¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 provides financial assistance to low-income students who require housing support, ensuring a stable living environment that promotes academic success. In 2024, 10 students (RM13,255) in need received full sponsorship for residential colleges through the Waqf and Endowment Room Programme. This initiative plays a vital role in alleviating the financial burden associated with accommodation costs.

¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 is deeply committed to ensuring that all students have access to affordable and comfortable housing. The university provides well-maintained on-campus residential colleges such as Dato’ Onn, Ungku Omar, and Aminuddin Baki, at low rates, creating a supportive environment for learning and personal development. For students preferring off-campus living, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 offers guidance and assistance in securing suitable, cost-effective accommodation nearby. To further ease financial burdens, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 introduced the Waqf and Endowment Room Programme, which provides free or sponsored housing for students from low-income families. In 2024, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 successfully secured RM451,200 in sponsorships, benefiting 51 residential rooms and offering free accommodation to 10 low-income students and 214 student leaders. Through these initiatives, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 not only promotes inclusivity and student welfare but also advances the goals of SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by ensuring equitable access to affordable housing.
