Dato’ Professor Dr. Asma Ismail Officiates Hari DNA UMBI
UMBI had the honour of playing host to the Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Professor Dr. Asma Ismail, the Director General of Higher Education, on the Hari DNA UMBI on the 23rd of April 2015. She was UMBI’s guest of honour and took time from her busy schedule to officiate the occasion.
In her inspiring speech, she congratulated UMBI for successfully hosting the Hari DNA for the past 4 years to commemorate the discovery of the DNA double-helical structure. She applauded also the growth and achievements of UMBI since its formation and picked out The Malaysian Cohort as one of the most important national project which UMBI has undertaken. Dato’ Asma pledged that she will try her best to help secure funding to sustain the project. She also called upon the young secondary school students to take up the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) when they enter university to ensure a critical mass of workforce in the STEM areas for the nation. This is not only important for nation building but also to help Malaysia achieved a developed nation status.
