UMBI’s Hari Raya Open House 2014
UMBI held its Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Open House on the 22nd of August 2014 (26th of Syawal 1435H) and for the first time at the new building. Staff from UMBI and The Malaysian Cohort (TMC) joined efforts to prepare for the event including putting up the colourful decorations in the building.
The event began at 10.30 am with all staff and the management taking their seats in the auditorium. Everyone observed a minute of silence and the Muslims recited the Al-Fatihah in remembrance of the victims of the MH17 plane crash tragedy. This was followed by a multimedia presentation about the tragedy and the plight and suffering of the Palestinians in the recent Gaza–Israel conflict. This was followed by a speech by the Director of UMBI, YBhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. A Rahman A Jamal. In honouring the National Mourning Day upon the arrival of the bodies of MH17 tragedy victims, the event was celebrated in moderation. However, the event was still alive with many fun activities such as the Selfie and Welfie competitions, Blindfold Taste Test, Telepathy Test and a lucky draw. The food spread and the festive delicacies was wonderful and delicious. Many guests from the ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 Medical Centre came to ‘beraya’ and tasted not only the food by the warm hospitality of UMBI. The event concluded with the prize-giving session by the Director of UMBI and photography sessions among the members of UMBI and TMC, students and research associates. This event had certainly strengthened the camaraderie and togetherness among the staff of UMBI and TMC and also our guests. UMBI would like to thank all guests, the sponsors and all the staff members that participated to make this memorable event successful.
