Chikungunya as an Emerging Infection in Malaysia: Baseline Results from The Malaysian Cohort
The Malaysian Cohort research team led by Professor Datuk Dr. A Rahman A Jamal and the Infectious Disease research team in UMBI led by Dr. Neoh Hui Min conducted a cross-sectional study and tested for seroprevalence of Chikungunya (CHIK) on 945 samples randomly identified from outbreak-free locations in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor.
Pahang and Negeri Sembilan. The team found that 5.9% of them were seropositive for CHIK IgG hence providing data that CHIK is slowly emerging in Malaysia. The findings were published inBMC Infectious Diseases (IF 3.03).
