15.5.2026 – UMBI Research Updates Series (RUS) in Molecular Medicine

๐๐/๐๐๐๐, held earlier this morning, featured two dedicated UMBI postgraduate students who reached pivotal points in their academic journeys. Colleagues and supervisors came together to witness the ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ of Muhammad Nafiz Haidi Adrus and Lim Chai Ling, both of whom have dedicated years to uncovering the molecular mechanisms of complex diseases.
๐๐ฎ๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ข๐ณ ๐๐๐ข๐๐ข ๐๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ (๐๐๐), under the supervision of Dr. Siti Aishah Sulaiman, presented his findings on “Elucidating the Roles of Long Non-Coding RNAs (LncRNAs) From Lipotoxic Hepatocyte-Extracellular Vesicles (Hep-EVs) in The Liver Fibrosis Formation.” His work sheds light on how cellular messengers contribute to liver scarring, offering potential new pathways for therapeutic intervention.

Following this, ๐๐ข๐ฆ ๐๐ก๐๐ข ๐๐ข๐ง๐ (๐๐ก๐) shared her doctoral research titled, “Delineating the Immunogenic Roles of FOLFOX-induced Extracellular Vesicles Via the Toll-like Receptor 2/4 (TLR2/4) Pathway in Colorectal Cancer.” Supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nadiah Abu, her study explores how cancer treatments influence immune signaling through extracellular vesicles, a crucial area for improving colorectal cancer outcomes.

We wish to acknowledge the immense dedication, late nights, and scientific rigor both Nafiz and Chai Ling have demonstrated. As they move forward, we wish them the very best of luck with their final thesis preparation and their upcoming viva voce. Congratulations on this impressive achievement!
