Victorian Multicultural Commission visit, 9 October 2018

On 9 October 2018, KITA team visited Victorian Multicultural Commission and learnt the about the creation of integration through a few platforms including media, community, economy and trade, transportation, etc. The project “Victorian. And Proud of It” provides the meaning of self-belonging with a tagline everyone must contribute to the national harmony. KITA’s visit was received by Anthony Plummer (Director Office of VMC), Anna Parle (Director Community Resilience Branch, Multicultural Affairs and Social Cohesion Division, Dept. Of Premier and Cabinet), Jessie Mitchell (Manager South and South East Asia, International Engagement Division, Dept. Of Premier and Cabinet), Negah Rahmani (Southeast Asia Regional specialist, Trade Victoria, Dept. of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources) and Tony O’Hea (Manager Research and Policy, Community Participation Branch, Multicultural Affairs and Social Cohesion Division).

KITA team also had a meeting and tour at the Immigration Museum, Melbourne as one of the Scanlon Foundation community network with Ms Soo Taylor and Ms Jan at 400 Flinders Street Melbourne, as well as a discussion over lunch with Ms Wesa Chau, Director of Cultural Intelligence, Margareth Thomas, Founder of MAD Consulting and Ms Monique on developing ways to nurture leadership skills and attitudes within an individual to make self-improvement towards acceptance of diversity.
