SMARTER*phonics Level 3 Workshop, 23-24 September 2017

On 23rd and 24th September 2017, Workshop SMARTER* Phonics Level 3 was held at Bilik Latihan 2, Level 6, Administration Building, Kolej Keris Mas, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹, organized by KITA and Dyslexia Association of Sarawak.

SMARTER is an acronym for ‘A Structured and Multisensory AppRoach To Enhance Reading’. It uses the principles of Orton-Gillingham method of teaching phonics in a systematic and step-wise manner. SMARTER*phonics builds the brain for literacy by employing current reading science research of the importance of listening, phonological awareness, vocabulary. Its cumulative and repetitive structure and use of multi-sensorial activities have been shown in various projects to enhance both reading and writing. SMARTER*phonics is currently used in all preschools in Sarawak.
