The session was chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sufian Jusoh and attended by representatives from Breakthrough Energy, including Dr. Brenda Haendler (Director, Technology Management), Ms. Meghan Bader (Director, Recruitment and Selection), and Dr. Jane Zhang (Head of Southeast Asia/Singapore).

Breakthrough Energy, founded by Bill Gates, focuses on accelerating emerging climate technologies and supporting innovators through its global Fellows Program, which offers funding, mentorship, and strategic partnerships. The meeting featured presentations from the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI), Fuel Cell Institute, Faculty of Science and Technology, and Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹, demonstrating ±«°­²Ñ’s commitment to fostering impactful collaborations in sustainable energy research and innovation.

Bhd. (GRSB) — a ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹ startup — with support from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Held from 5–8 October 2025 at Ulu Slim, Perak, the event was officiated by YB Puan Salina Samsudin, ADUN Behrang, and highlighted the potential of geothermal energy as a sustainable and low-carbon energy source.

The programme featured various activities including industry exhibitions, research demonstrations, fishing competitions, community feasts, and charity contributions to local villagers and Orang Asli communities. A special Pos Malaysia stamp series was also launched to promote awareness of Malaysia’s geothermal hotspots — Ulu Slim (Perak), Lojing (Kelantan), and Apas Kiri (Sabah).

±«°­²Ñ’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Development & Infrastructure), Prof. Sr. Ts. Dr. Adi Irfan Che Ani, emphasized that the Ulu Slim Geothermal Research Centre will serve as a national hub for renewable energy innovation through strong collaboration between academia and industry.

The initiative aimed to promote sustainability education through community activities such as recycling, composting, energy and water conservation, and STEM-based environmental modules.

The event was officiated by Prof. Ir. Dr. Norhamidi Muhamad, FKAB Council Member, with participation from Masjid Sungai Sekamat Nazir, Mr. Rosli Darus. Highlights included energy-saving talks by Dr. Syahirah (JKEES), recycling demonstrations by KDEB, and engaging STEM activities like iG-Home, LESTARi, STEM Racer, and Colourful Tower.

Heartfelt appreciation to all FKAB lecturers, staff, and students for their active involvement and commitment in making the event a success.

This program is held in conjunction with the World Environment Day which is celebrated on 5 June 2024 and aims to foster noble values ​​and a sense of responsibility towards the environment and then be active in activities related to environmental sustainability.


In relation to that, Strategi-UKM invites all citizens, especially staff and students to participate in the competitions. The closing date for all competitions is 6 June 2024 and the conditions of participation are as stated on the poster as in the attachment.

The ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹ delegation was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Industry and Community Network Affairs, Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Norazah Mohd Nordin meanwhile, UAiTED is led by the Executive Director of The Sayling Wen Cultural & Educational Foundation, Mr. Her Jeter.

This visit is one of the activities organized by The Sayling Wen Cultural & Educational Foundation and The Association of Global Academia Industry Collabration Malaysia in conjunction with the UAiTED Governing Board Member meeting in Malaysia.

UAiTED is comprised of 15 leading universities in ASEAN, formed through a Memorandum of Understanding in 2019 to strengthen strategic relationships between industry and universities. ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹ is one of the universities active in UAiTED.

During this visit, the delegation was taken to visit the Fuel Cell Institute. During this visit, there was also a Letter of Intent (LoI) Signing Ceremony between ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹Shape and The Association of Global Academia Industry Collabration Malaysia which took place in the Ballroom, ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹SHAPE.

Hopefully the strategic collaboration between ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹ and UAiTED continues to be strong for the development of ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹ student talent in preparing future-proof and ‘industry ready’ graduates.
Also present, the President of The Association of Global Academia Industry Collabration Malaysia, Mr. Kevin Peng, Director of ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹Shape, Prof. Grandfather Dr. Muhammad Hussin and Professor Siti Karthom, Director of the Fuel Cell Institute.

This program lasted for two days starting today at Bangi Resort Hotel. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of gathering experts in photogrammetry, measurement, robotics, aerospace engineering, geoscience and various user communities in using Satellite Images through the use of drone and latest technology to obtain more accurate results in mapping images.

This technology is also used to obtain images for the measurement of land, oceans, depths and areas that are rarely pioneered to obtain information. The purpose of this conference is to connect academics, scientists and researchers with corporate companies working in the field of UAV technology and applications in acquiring Geomatics information systematically. This platform is also a gathering place for researchers to present their work in front of the community and experts in the field of Geomatics. Also present, Prof. Dr. Kamal Jain, Chairman of UASG 2023, Associate Prof. Dr. Zaini Sakawi, Director of the Climate Change Institute, ¼¯ÃÀÂé¶¹, Mrs. Nik Mazlina Nik Mustapha, Deputy Director General, Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA), Sr. Muhamad Salim Mohammed Asari, Director of Surveying, Department of Surveying and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM) and Mrs. Abrizah Abdul Aziz, National Geospatial Director (PGN).
