¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 has once again made history by achieving 7th place in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ratings 2026. This achievement places ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 among the top 1% of universities globally in terms of impact performance towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This is the highest ranking ever achieved by ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 since its establishment, proving that Malaysia’s national university is capable of standing alongside leading global institutions in driving sustainability, community well-being, and global development.

This excellent performance is supported by improved scores in nine SDGs and maintained performance in three SDGs. ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 has also successfully placed 14 SDGs among the top 50 in the world, nine SDGs among the top 20 in the world, four SDGs among the top 10 in the world, and three SDGs among the top five in the world.

Among the most outstanding achievements is SDG 16, Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, which is ranked 2nd in the world, while SDG 1, No Poverty, and SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities, are both ranked 4th in the world.

This success was not achieved overnight. Instead, it is the result of the continuous commitment of the entire ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 community in integrating education, research, innovation, knowledge transfer, and community engagement to create meaningful impact for the nation and the world.

¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 has made history by securing 7th place in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ratings 2026. This achievement places ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 among the top 1% of universities globally based on its impact on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This ranking marks the highest achievement in ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹’s history and proves the capability of Malaysia’s national university to stand alongside leading global institutions in driving sustainability, community well-being, and global development.

This success is the result of the continuous commitment of the ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 community in integrating education, research, innovation, knowledge transfer, and community engagement to create real impact. Within three years, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 has risen from the 201–300 band in 2024, to 53rd place in 2025, and now to 7th place in the world.

This performance is supported by improved scores in nine SDGs and maintained performance in three SDGs. A total of 14 ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 SDGs are ranked among the top 50 in the world.

This achievement shows that ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 not only excels in generating knowledge, but also successfully translates it into solutions that benefit society, the nation, and the world.

This achievement is highly commendable as ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 continues to remain in the top 10% of the 1,504 institutions listed worldwide, and the top 2% of the 8,808 institutions evaluated. This success reflects ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹’s competitiveness, stability, and resilience in navigating an increasingly competitive global higher education landscape.

The slight drop in ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹’s overall ranking from 126th last year to 130th should be viewed objectively within the context of increasingly challenging global competition. Nevertheless, this position still places ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 among the most competitive and internationally influential universities.

In the 2027 edition, ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 also recorded encouraging improvements in several key indicators:

• Citations per Faculty — Up 81 spots
• International Research Network — Up 38 spots
• Sustainability — Up 35 spots
• International Students — Up 16 spots

The improvement in these indicators proves that the continuous efforts of the ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 community in strengthening its research culture, expanding international networks, increasing sustainability impact, and enhancing global visibility are bearing fruit.

In line with the TEKAD 57 (2026–2030) aspirations, this achievement serves as a catalyst for the entire ¼¯ÃÀÂ鶹 community to continue striving for excellence, strengthening its reputation, and stepping further ahead as a national university with a global mindset.
