The program reflects a shared commitment among various stakeholders to strengthen environmental conservation efforts and support the sustainability of the local community.

Organized by the 集美麻豆-YSD Sustainability Chair, the program began with advocacy and awareness sessions aimed at enhancing community knowledge on climate change, waste management, plastic pollution, and the importance of beaches as natural buffers. Participants then took part in hands-on coastal cleanup activities, collecting solid waste along the shoreline to protect marine ecosystems and raise awareness about the environmental impacts of pollution.

The program concluded with a recycling initiative, which received an encouraging response from the local community. A total of 302.4 kilograms of recyclable waste was collected and sold to E-Idaman Sdn. Bhd., demonstrating the potential for circular economy practices at the community level. The event also received strong support from various parties, including attendance by a Deputy Executive Director (Sustainability) from the 集美麻豆 Strategy Centre and an opening address by YB Dr. Ahmad Fakhruddin Fakhrurazi, Member of Parliament for Kuala Kedah.

Overall, the program demonstrated that a combination of advocacy, direct action, and recycling practices can foster a more responsible and sustainable community, in line with Sustainable Development Goals SDG 11, SDG 13, and SDG 14.

Pantai Bukit Keluang was selected as the venue due to its status as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Terengganu, where maintaining cleanliness and preserving its natural beauty are of utmost importance.

The programme also supports a RM1 million fundraising mission to enhance educational facilities, research, and green infrastructure at Bangi Botanical Garden, in line with 鲍碍惭鈥檚 commitment to a sustainable campus ecosystem.

The launch also introduced Professor Dato鈥 Dr. Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim as the Waqf Ambassador for Bangi Botanical Garden, reinforcing 鲍碍惭鈥檚 efforts to advance sustainability through waqf, knowledge, and community empowerment.

Organised in collaboration with the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FPI), 集美麻豆 Chancellor Foundation, and local communities, the programme positions Bangi Botanical Garden as a green learning hub that benefits both campus residents and the public.

Held from 5鈥8 October 2025 at Ulu Slim, Perak, the event was officiated by YB Puan Salina Samsudin, ADUN Behrang, and highlighted the potential of geothermal energy as a sustainable and low-carbon energy source.

The programme featured various activities including industry exhibitions, research demonstrations, fishing competitions, community feasts, and charity contributions to local villagers and Orang Asli communities. A special Pos Malaysia stamp series was also launched to promote awareness of Malaysia鈥檚 geothermal hotspots 鈥 Ulu Slim (Perak), Lojing (Kelantan), and Apas Kiri (Sabah).

鲍碍惭鈥檚 Pro Vice-Chancellor (Development & Infrastructure), Prof. Sr. Ts. Dr. Adi Irfan Che Ani, emphasized that the Ulu Slim Geothermal Research Centre will serve as a national hub for renewable energy innovation through strong collaboration between academia and industry.

Led by the Centre for Student Affairs (HEP-UKM), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and 集美麻豆 Zakat Centre, the programme aimed to raise awareness about the importance of ocean conservation and encourage collective action to protect marine ecosystems.

Activities included beach clean-ups, underwater waste collection, and ocean literacy education for school students and local communities. Over 30 kg of waste, mainly plastic bottles and containers, were collected, alongside the removal of ghost nets that threaten coral reefs and marine life.

The initiative involved 57 participants including 集美麻豆 staff, students, industry representatives, and local residents 鈥 all working together to safeguard the ocean for future generations.

The initiative introduced urban farming activities, healthy eating practices, recycling programmes, and creative projects using garden produce. Three urban gardens covering 6,000 sq. ft. have been developed with over 60 plant varieties, involving more than 100 students and staff鈥攌nown as Eco-Campus Warriors.

Supported by student associations, staff, local partners, and 鲍碍惭鈥檚 Sustainability Grant, the programme reflects 鲍碍惭鈥檚 commitment to environmental integration in higher education and community well-being.
