The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of performance-based remuneration management on employee’s job satisfaction through the mediating role of procedural justice. A crosssectional technique was employed to collect primary data from 232 employees of private higher educational institutions in Peninsular Malaysia who experienced the implementation of performance-based remuneration. The Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used in the data analysis. The outcomes displayed three important findings: first, the relationship between management of performance-based remuneration and procedural justice was significant. Second, the relationship between management of performance-based remuneration, procedural justice and intrinsic job satisfaction was significant. Third, the relationship between management of performance-based remuneration, procedural justice and extrinsic job satisfaction was significant. Statistically, this result confirms that influence of management of performance-based remuneration on job satisfaction is indirectly affected by procedural justice in the studied organizations. This study provides empirical evidence on the importance of procedural justice in managing performance-based remuneration. It is an important input to enhancing employee’s job satisfaction in the organization. Further, the study concludes with a discussion on the contributions, limitations and suggestions for future research.

Self-administered questionnaires were delivered to 330 respondents throughout Northern Malaysia. Next, the data were analyzed using statistical analysis of SPSS and Partial Least Squares of Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). Results showed that distributive and procedural justice was positively related to integrating, obliging and compromising styles while negatively related to dominating style but not related to avoiding style. It also revealed that integrating, obliging and compromising styles were positively significant with affective commitment while dominating style was negatively significant with affective commitment but avoiding style does not relate with affective commitment. In conclusion, the results also showed conflict management styles fully mediate the relationship between distributive and procedural justice and affective commitment.

Hubungan Sistem Pengukuran Prestasi Strategik dan Prestasi Pensyarah di Universiti Penyelidikan Awam Malaysia melalui Keadilan Organisasi /jurnalpengurusan/article/hubungan-sistem-pengukuran-prestasi-strategik-dan-prestasi-pensyarah-di-universiti-penyelidikan-awam-malaysia-melalui-keadilan-organisasi/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=hubungan-sistem-pengukuran-prestasi-strategik-dan-prestasi-pensyarah-di-universiti-penyelidikan-awam-malaysia-melalui-keadilan-organisasi Sat, 08 Oct 2022 19:00:27 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=3512 This study examines the relationship between Strategic Performance Measurement System and organizational justice on lecturer performance at Malaysian public research universities (RUs). Focusing on the individual lecturer’s performance measurement system which relates closely to the RUs strategy, the perception on organizational justice among the lecturers is expected to influence their quality of work. Detailing the organizational justice into procedural justice and distributive justice, the significance of these variables are tested via online survey questionnaires administered among lecturers in five public RUs. Based on feedback, from 365 respondents, analysed using statistical SPSS software and Structure Equation Modelling with AMOS, the findings support the importance of perception on justice in influencing the effectiveness of the lecturers’ performance measurement system and achievement of their work performance. Procedural justice though has a significant impact as a full mediator as compared to distributive justice. This study provides empirical evidence on the importance of perceptions of justice in evaluating the lecturers’ profession. It is an important input towards setting up the lecturer’s performance measurement policy.

Hubungan Penyertaan Belanjawan dan Regangan Belanjawan di Industri Perhotelan: Peranan Keadilan Prosedur /jurnalpengurusan/article/hubungan-penyertaan-belanjawan-dan-regangan-belanjawan-di-industri-perhotelan-peranan-keadilan-prosedur/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=hubungan-penyertaan-belanjawan-dan-regangan-belanjawan-di-industri-perhotelan-peranan-keadilan-prosedur Sat, 08 Oct 2022 18:32:01 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=3426 The focus of this study is to investigate the association between budget slack and budget participation, examining the role of procedural justice on managers in the hotel industry. The participants in the study were 164 department managers working in hotels registered with Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH). Mailed questionnaires were used to collect the data. Budget participation was measured using Milani’s (1975) instrument, while budget slack was assessed following Stede (2000), whom conceptualized the variable in terms of actual budget slack practice rather than the intention of doing slack. Extending the agency relationships, this study used Theory of Mind (ToM) to test the significance of procedural justice to moderate budget participation and budget slack relationship. The finding shows that the interactive effect between justice procedures and budgetary participation is negatively related to budget slack, and thus suggest that the practice of slack can be reduced given that employees believe that justice is being practiced by their employers.
