The Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS), in collaboration with the Asia-Japan Research Institute and the Institute of International Relations and Area Studies, Ritsumeikan University, Japan, organised a closed-door, expert-led workshop titled “Foreign Investment and Labour Standards in Malaysia, China and Japan” on 26 February 2026 (Thursday).
The workshop, held at the Training Room, Tun Fatimah Hashim Building, Akademik 鶹 Bangi, aimed toexchange knowledge, practices and lived experiences pertaining to the impacts of foreign investment on labour standards and practices in Malaysia.
Participants included representatives from Ritsumeikan University, Japan; City University of Hong Kong, China; North-South Initiative (NSI); Indonesian Migrant Domestic Workers Association in Malaysia (PERTIMIG); Alliance of Chin Refugees in Malaysia (ACR); and Rohingya Society in Malaysia (RSM). IKMAS postgraduate students also attended.
